Craig Mueller is an American lawyer, former U.S. Navy officer, and candidate for office in the upcoming election for Attorney General of Nevada.
Early life[edit]
Craig Mueller was born in Apple Valley, California in March 1961 to Denis Mueller an engineer and inventor and Sandra Atherton. The family moved to Las Vegas, where Craig's mother's family had roots dating back to the 1950s. Mueller was raised in Las Vegas and attended Eldorado High School (Las Vegas). After High School Mueller was accepted to the United States Naval Academy.
Military service[edit]
Mueller served as an active duty Naval officer for 7 years achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Mueller served on the USS Julius A. Furer (FFG-6) in Missile & Fire Control, Auxiliary & Electrical, and briefly as Chief Engineer. In 1984 he was deployed to the Persian Gulf, then again deployed in 1895 to Nicaragua.
After leaving active duty, Mueller remained in the Naval Reserves until 2001 achieving the rank of Commander.
In 1984 Muller won the Meritorious Unit Commendation and in 1997 Mueller was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
District Attorney's Office[edit]
From 1993 - 1997 Mueller worked in the District Attorney's office, as a prosecuting attorney. There he helped found the DUI Team in 1996. While at the DA's office he tried the infamous Nevada v. Vardan Akopian case [1] one of the first gaming fraud cases in the state of Nevada.
Private practice[edit]
In 1998 Mueller opened a private legal practice, later merging it with his wife Kristina's practice to form Mueller Hinds & Associates. Mueller Hinds & Associates is primarily a litigation practice with five attorneys on staff. In 2016, Mueller sued to repeal Nevada's Commerce Tax. [2]
Campaign for Attorney General[edit]
In November 2017 Mueller announced he would run for Attorney General of Nevada, against the incumbent Wes Duncan.[3]
