Curtis Holder (born 1968) is a British contemporary artist.[1] He maintains a figurative and portrait-based practice which focuses on drawing in the medium of graphite and coloured pencils.[2]
Holder graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Kingston University[3][4] in 1991 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Character Animation at Central Saint Martins, London in 2005.
In 2020 Holder won Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year[3][5][6][7], a national portraiture award televised in the UK. In the final of the competition he drew stand-up comedian, actor and activist Eddie Izzard[6], winning a £10,000 commission to draw ballet dancer Carlos Acosta for the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.[8] Holder's drawing of Acosta is now part of the permanent collection in Birmingham.
