Early life and career[edit]
Gideon Alorgbey (born 2 February 1991 in Accra) is a Ghanaian DJ. Popularly known as DJ Sly, he began exploring his disc jockey talent aged 19 in secondary school at Ada Senior Technical School in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. Studying general arts in school, his newfound talent went contrary to what he was studying. Nonetheless, he pursued his love to be a DJ after making a promise to his mother to balance his school work with his DJ gigs. After secondary school, he gained admission to the Accra Technical University.
Because of his interest in hosting, DJing and presenting, he studied radio and TV broadcasting at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC). In 2011, he worked with X FM, a radio station in Accra as a technician and on one fateful day, earned his big break. DJ Sly took up an airtime slot when a resident DJ failed to report for his show. From then on, at X FM, he started headlining the Week Edition Show every Saturday morning. This show encompassed celebrating Top 10 trending songs in Ghana each week and reporting related entertainment news. He worked with X FM for 5 years.
In 2016, DJ Sly was signed to WatsUp TV as their official DJ and host of music videos whose emphasis was on promoting African music. In 2017, he was nominated at the Ghana DJ Awards for Best Video DJ |[1]
DJ Sly signed a management deal with US based firm JMK Publicist/Firm[2] also in November 2017.
