    DVDInfo is a free and open-source program that displays technical information about DVDs and generally media files such as video, audio and subtitle files used in DVD-Video discs.[6] For some advanced information related to video codecs it uses MediaInfoLib. It's a GUI program[7] and does not have command-line interface.

    Technical information

    DVDInfo provides information[8] such as:

    • General: Disc Label, Disc Title, Disc Size (in bytes)
    • Movie Related: Parts, Video Files (.VOB), MetaFile, Movie Size (in bytes), Length/Duration (Hours, Minutes, Seconds and Milliseconds), Standard (PAL/NTSC)
    • Video: Codec, BitRate (in kbps) (supports bitrate calculation between multiple files in case the movie is split into multiple files), Resolution, FrameRate, Aspect Ratio, Format profile
    • Audio: Codec, Language, Bitrate, Channels, Sampling Rate
    • Subtitles: Codec, Language

    Downloading

    DVDinfo can be downloaded as .tar.gz and run as portable or it can be installed.

    The setup is created with NSIS and compressed/packed with 7-zip self extracting setup.

    Supported input formats

    DVDInfo supports video and audio files related to DVD Video Discs:[9]

    DVDInfo open from DVD Drive
    DVDInfo 1.2.2r0 Open DVD directly from Optical Disc Drive.

    It can also open a folder that contains valid DVD files and DVD directly from the Optical Disc Drive.

    After Version 1.2.1r0 it can be integrated into Windows Context Menu for .VOB and .IFO files.[10]

    Supported operating systems

    The only DVDInfo system requirement is .NET Framework 4.0,[11] so it is supported by Microsoft Windows versions:

    DVDInfo 1.2.2r0 running on AlpineLinux XFCE using WineHQ

    There is no release/version for Linux till now.
