DVDVideoSoft Ltd. is a British[citation needed] software company that makes multimedia software.
Overview[edit]
The company (DIGITAL WAVE LTD) specializes in multimedia application development. A set of 49 programs for video, audio and image processing are available both for separate download and as one integrated package, Free Studio.[1]
History[edit]
DVDVideoSoft project was launched in 2006, releasing the programs for YouTube video / audio download.[2] Today DVDVideoSoft specializes in multimedia applications for video, audio, images processing. The most popular applications, according to CNET statistics, include Free YouTube to MP3[3] Converter, Free Video to MP3 Converte, Free Video to MP3 Converter, Free MP4 Video Converter and Free YouTube Download. Other programs with high rank: Free AVI Video Converter, Free Video Editor, Free Audio Converter and Free Studio in a whole.[4][5]
On March 24, 2017 DVDVideoSoft announced that it stopped showing other products ads during the installation.[6]
Main product[edit]
Free Studio is a software bundle containing 49 programs, grouped into several sections: YouTube, MP3 & Audio, CD-DVD-BD, DVD & Video, Photo & Images, Mobiles, Apple Devices, 3D.[7][8][9] The programs have been tested and endorsed by Chip Online, Tucows, SnapFiles, Brothersoft and Softonic and have won awards from these sites.[10] As far as demographics is concerned, Free Studio has the highest popularity in Germany, United States and Italy.[5] It is also popular in Japan, France and the United Kingdom.[5]
Criticism[edit]
DVDVideoSoft is criticized for toolbar and Web search engine installations (in some versions of Free Studio and DVDVideoSoft applications). Older versions have also included OpenCandy, which is loaded in automatically, without any request for user approval.
[11][12][13][14] There can be difficulties installing only the programs needed without installing bundled extra programs.[15]
Since March 2017 DVDVideoSoft has completely removed all the toolbars, search engine installations and OpenCandy.[6]
