Dan Libenson (Hebrew: דניאל ליבנסון ) is a Jewish American podcaster and an innovator of Judaism in the United States. In 2010, Libenson was named a Jewish Chicagoan of the Year by Chicago Jewish News.[1]
Biography[edit]
Libenson was born on May 5, 1970, and grew up in Plainview, New York. He earned a BSc in Biology from Harvard College, and a JD from Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude and was an articles editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Libenson is the founder and president of the Institute for the Next Jewish Future, the creator and co-host of the podcast Judaism Unbound, and most recently, the founder of JewishLIVE.
Early career[edit]
After completing law school at Harvard University, Libenson assisted Professor Alan Dershowitz in criminal defense work and book projects, including The Vanishing American Jew. Later, he became a law professor at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.[2] He taught in Minnesota for five years before moving to Chicago to become the Hillel Director at the University of Chicago, where he worked for six years.
Current projects[edit]
Currently, Libenson is working to enhance the quality of online Jewish learning. He created the website/web portal, JewishLIVE, to provide an opportunity for anyone across the world to have a space where they can still attend synagogue services and be a part of many different shows while quarantining at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
