Daniel Friedrich Sturm (born 1973 in Bochum, German) is a German journalist and author. Since 2018, he has worked as the US correspondent for Die Welt.[1][2] His coverage has mainly concerned US politics, particularly the Trump presidency.[3][4]
Education[edit]
Sturm studied political economy, folklore, and Eastern European history at the University of Bonn. He then received a master's degree (2000) and doctorate degree (2005) from the same university. Between 2003 and 2005, he was awarded a scholarship from the Stipendiat der Stiftung Aufarbeitung to pursue doctoral studies.[5]
Career[edit]
Prior to enrolling at university, Sturm worked as a freelance journalist at the Münstersche Zeitung (1988–1995). He continued to work at various news agencies. After receiving his D.Phil., he returned to Die Welt as a political journalist. Since 2018, he has been the US correspondent for Die Welt.[6]
Sturm has also published four books on the history of the Social Democratic Party in Germany.[7] He was awarded the Willy Brandt Prize in 2005. His biography of Peer Steinbrück, the former German Minister of Finance, has been well received in the German press.[8][9]
