Summary
Daniel J. Nyiri was born in London. He is a British/American executive, writer, filmmaker [1] and college professor[2][3]. Director/Producer on more than fifty commercials, feature films and documentaries, including productions for Daniel Nyiri and Associates,[4][5]Buena Vista, Castle Rock Entertainment, Cinergi, Columbia Pictures, Discovery Channel, Disney, Entertainment Tonight, HBO, Hollywood Pictures, MGM/United Artists, Miramax, New Line Cinema, Orion Pictures, Showtime, Sony Pictures Entertainment, TriStar, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. [6] Credits include documentaries, epk's, featurettes, 2nd unit, special shoots, and trailers, for major studio and independent productions, notably The Man in the Moon (1991), Of Mice and Men (1992), Damage (1992), Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993), The Fugitive (1993), Nixon (1995), Ghosts of Mississippi (1996);[7], and Starship Troopers (1997); music videos, television commercials for Max Factor, Harley Davidson, the University of California at Berkeley Wellness Foundation, Smart and Final, Kawasaki motorcycles. Recent works include Wallis sings Schumann and Venice Clay. He was one of the producers of the award winning feature documentary Playing with Fire (2024). [8][9][10]
Grants and Awards
Nyiri has also served on the Board of Directors of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (1996-1998), in Los Angeles; as Vice Chair, Live and Recorded Media of the Directors Guild of Great Britain (1998-2000); as Regional and California Statewide Program Director for Career and Technical Education in Broadcasting, Cinema, Media Arts & Sciences, overseeing multi-million dollar, K-12, secondary and postsecondary programs for the Governor of California's Office of CTE, the UC, CSU and LACCD[11][12][13][14][15] (2004-2019). He has advised high schools, colleges and universities and the Governor of California's Office of Career and Technical Education on funding and articulation of curriculum, training for careers and grants, in media arts and animation, internships, technology, development, production and postproduction. For more than fifteen years he has worked as an Assistant Professor and Program Director in the LACCD, where he created, oversaw and taught classes in Filmmaking, Broadcasting, Media Arts, Multimedia and Screenwriting. He currently teaches at Los Angeles City College.
