Daniel S. Severson
Daniel S. Severson (born April 30, 1987) is a legal scholar, advocate and classical musician.[1] He served as editor-in-chief for The Harvard International Law Journal [2] and is a contributor to Lawfare Blog.[3] Severson completed a Fulbright Scholarship[4] in Taiwan and has been awarded the Harvard Presidential Public Service Fellowship, which supported his work in the US Department of Defense.[5]
Severson plays French Horn with the Durham Symphony Orchestra.
Personal life[edit]
Severson was born and raised in Edina, Minnesota.
Education[edit]
Severson attended French Immersion School. He received dual undergraduate degrees from Bard College, where he earned a B.Mus. in French Horn performance and a B.A. in political studies. In 2016 he received dual master's degrees from Harvard University. He graduated cum laude with a JD from Harvard Law School and earned a MPP in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
He speaks English, French and Mandarin.
Awards[edit]
Severson was the 2016 graduate semifinalist for the Bobby R. Inman Award his paper, National Security Reporting Requirements: Managing Tension Between Secrecy and Accountability.[6] He was awarded the William J Lockwood Prize for his contribution to the intellectual life at Bard College. He is a Council of American Ambassadors Fellowship Alumni Association Officer.[7]
