Danish Manzoor is an Indian [1] Taekwondo [2] team athlete, who hails from District Baramulla J&K, India. He has represented team India in World Taekwondo [3] Octagon Diamond G4 Olympic [4][5] Ranking event held at Gangwon, South Korea in August, 2023. In 2022, Danish has been appointed as Fit India Ambassador.
Career[edit]
Danish started his sports career in 2010 at the age of 13, when he won a bronze medal at Indore Stadium Srinagar in the Inter-District Taekwondo championship.[1][2][3] He was firstly practicing Taekwondo in Baramulla Taekwondo Academy at Rangwara under his first coach Ashfaq Ahmad Wani.[4] In 2011, he won gold in state-level tournament. In 2013, he participated in 33rd Junior National Taekwondo (Kyorugi & Poomsae) Championship which was held from October 18 to 20, 2013 at Sports Complex, Puducherry.[5] In 2015, he participated in National-level taekwondo tournament in Cuttack, Odisha, where he reached the quarter finals. In 2016, he played another 54-Kg weight category National-level tournament held from 17th to 21st May 2016 in Mahaveer (Rajasthan),[6][7] where he got silver medal which made him eligible for Asian Championship and Asian Indoor Games trial. [2][8][9][10] In 2018, he joined Atul International Taekwondo Academy and is playing in all tournaments under the coach Atul Pangotra.[7]
He was also among the top players at the "International Olympic Ranking G1 Championship", which was held from 11th to 16th June 2019 at the Vijay Kotla Reddy Bhaskar Stadium in Hyderabad.[1][11]
In April 2021, Danish was awarded the ‘Best Male Athlete’ of the tournament at the Tokey Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship (Kyorugi and Poomsae), where he represented J&K and won a silver medal in the tournament, held in Ropar, Punjab. [12]
