Career
Wayne "Danny" Thornton is probably best known for his acting roles these days, but it was in his time as a professional rugby league footballer with Castleford Tigers(1986–90), when he first became used to public appearances. He also got his nickname "Danny" as a Tigers player. Danny went on to play for Doncaster R.L.F.C. and Bramley R.L.F.C. before retiring from the pro game. Danny Thornton made his television debut in 2003, working on soaps Coronation Street , Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. He played an angry neighbour in an episode of Coronation Street. In 2008, he played Manny in the film A Matter of Time. He appeared in Emmerdale as Colin Ward, 2007. In 2020, he played the role of Jack Crane in Strictly Morris. In one of the roles he played in a Crimewatch reconstruction, he had to take a swinging punch at another actor, who was supposed to 'ride the punch' unfortunately, that didn't happen and the fellow actor felt the full force of the punch, which the producer kept in for its authenticity! In 2015, he played Frank in the film Rough and Ready. In the same year, he played the role of Tommy Tongin the film Dreams Ashes, directed by Rafe Clayton[2]
In 2006, Thornton played the role of Jack Turner in the film Blighty.
