Darius Foster
Darius Foster is a businessman and former Republican candidate for office in Alabama. He ran for a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives in 2014 but was defeated.[1]
Career[edit]
Foster currently serves on the Economic Development Committee for the Hoover Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce and is an Associate Board Member for the Alabama Policy Institute.[2] He has served on the Steering Committee for the Alabama Republican Party, as an Executive Committee member of the Young Republican Federation of Alabama, and as a Finance Committee member with the Young Republican National Federation.
Foster has been appointed by two governors: Governor Bob Riley appointed him to the Amistad Commission in 2009, one of Alabama’s education textbook efforts, and he was later appointed by Governor Robert J. Bentley to the Affordable Homeowner’s Insurance Commission and to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. He became the youngest Alabamian to be appointed to the Higher Education Commission. In the fall of 2010, Foster was elected as Chairman of the Alabama Minority GOP. The Alabama Minority GOP is the minority caucus of the Alabama Republican Party.
Foster received his bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from Miles College. He is a member of the Faith Church, located in Oxmoor Valley; and is married to Setara (Ozan) Foster. [3]
Campaign for Alabama House of Representatives[edit]
Foster was the Republican nominee for State Representative for Alabama State House District 56. Foster was unopposed in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014, and faced Democratic candidate Louise Alexander in the November 4, 2014 general election. Foster was defeated.[1]
Foster made national news the summer of 2014 with his viral political ad. The ad was named one of The Best 6 Political Campaign Ads of the Summer by Time Magazine.[4][5]
