David Aronov

David Aronov is an American activist and political candidate in New York City.

Family and Education[edit]

Aronov's parents immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan in 1991. He attended Queens Gateway To Health Sciences Secondary School, got a BA in political science from Hunter College and a Master's from NYU,[1] where he is president of the graduate student association.[2]

Career[edit]

Aronov has held various positions in the office of Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, starting as an intern and moving up to senior staffer. In 2020, he worked as the Lead Organizer of the Borough of Queens for NYC Census 2020.[3] Aronov also announced his bid for election to replace Koslowitz when her term ends; he hopes to become the first Bukharian Jew elected to NY City Council.[1]

Aronov founded the Bukharian Jewish Union[4] and has been an organizer of Queens-based rallies and events to fight against anti-Semitism.[5]

Honors and Awards[edit]

He was named on of The Jewish Week's “36 Under 36” in 2020.[6] He was also selected to the UJA Graduate Fellowship Program.[7]
