David Etmenan is a German entrepreneur and owner of the hotel group Novum Hospitality.
Life[edit]
Etmenans father is Nader Etmenan, who founded the first Novum hotel in 1988 in Hamburg.[1] Etmenan grew up in Seevetal, Hamburg, and started to study economics at Nordakademie Elmshorn after graduating school.[2]
Etmenan lives with his family with two children in Marienthal.[3]
Career[edit]
In 2004, Etmenan's father fell ill, so he had to drop out of university and take over the family business.[2] He started to expand the brand and turned the business into a hotel group that today has over 170 hotels in 65 countries around Europe. Etmenans siblings Resa, Mortesa and Samira Said are also part of the company's management.[4][5] In 2017, Etmenan launched the new design-hotel concept Niu and was named person of the year ("Kopf des Jahres") by the AHGZ (Allgemeine Hotel- und Gastronomie-Zeitung).[5]
Philantropy[edit]
In 2015, Etmenan founded the Nader Etmenan Foundation in honour of his father, to help people with less financial stability to pursue their life and career.[1] In 2018, it was announced that the walls of 53 Novum hotels will be painted by selected street artists that support the nonprofit organisation Viva con Agua, to raise awareness for the NPO's work.[6] The Nader Etmenan Foundation also supports causes as ASM (Arbeitsgemeinschaft selbstständiger Migranten),[7] the Michael Stich Foundation and the project Ankerland.[8]
