David Howard (politician)
David L. Howard (born January 25, 1970) is a Charlotte native and a Democratic at-large City Council member serving his third term. As a graduate from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, he holds a bachelor's degree in sociology. He is the co-chair of the Transportation and Planning Committee, chairs the Governance and Accountability Committee and also serves the Environment Committee. He also is a co-chair alongside Huntersville Mayor, Jill Swain for the Transit Finance Working Group, which is used to discover financial options in hopes to move mass transit program forward and previously led by former Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx. Currently, he is also the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Fund Development of The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership. He previously served as the Council Representative for the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO). He also was a member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission for six years and was the chairman for two years. He co-founded the organization Mothers of Murdered Offspring Inc. (MOM-O) in 1993 and received a Pride Award for Organization of the Year in 2003.
David announced his campaign to run as Mayor of Charlotte on June 4, 2015.
