David J. "Dave" McIntyre (born September 18, 1989), also known by his stage name Dave Mac, is a Canadian actor and musician from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada.
His album Turn My Back features collaborations with well-known Canadian artists such as Madchild, Swollen Members, Choclair, The Deans List, and Dilated Peoples.[1] McIntyre has also performed alongside notable artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Thrust, Sean Brown, and Slaine.[2][3]
Early life[edit]
McIntyre grew up in Port Perry, Ontario where he picked up rapping at the age of 15. He recorded his own music with his father's old recording interface.[4]
McIntyre attended Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario and Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. After his graduation, his father was killed in a motorcycle accident involving a drunk driver, which inspired him to write many motivational songs.[5]
Career[edit]
In addition to rapping, McIntyre is also a producer, songwriter, and graphic designer.[4] He is affiliated with Peter Jackson and 90 Nickel Entertainment, a company based in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
In 2016, he released his second E.P. "Trouble",[6] a ten-track album with seven visuals. The recent traction of his Ed the Sock tribute prompted HMV Canada to run an exclusive weekend sale of Dave Mac's Trouble.[7][8] "Trouble" was written as a result of Dave's personal experiences and real-life hardships of eternal love and tragic break-ups.[9] The album Trouble has also received industry praise from Canadian hip hop icon Moka Only. The album's single features a Detroit artist called Roze.
McIntyre also had a full-time job for Buc Union as a construction worker in Newmarket, Ontario.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
The Update is his third album, released in 2017. It is a thirteen-track album that features guest appearances such as Mark Battles Hendersin, as well as Roze and Dubby.
In November 2017, he was featured on the front cover of Boss Code Magazine.[18] In February 2018, Dave Mac was featured on the front cover of Focus On Scugog, a magazine based in Scugog Township.[19]
In September 2019, McIntyre interviewed with Respect Magazine in September 2019. In 2019, he also released the 14-track album Anything.[20]
