David Shoemaker is an American occultist, writer, psychologist, lecturer, and a leading member of the Thelemic organisation Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.).[1] He is known as a producer of Speech in the Silence podcast[2] and for his book on the magick of Aleister Crowley, Living Thelema.[1]
Career
Since 2009 Shoemaker worked in private practice as a clinical psychologist in Sacramento, California.[3] He was the founding President of the O.T.O. Psychology Guild.[4]
Occult
Shoemaker was involved in the occult since late 1980s.[5] In 1993 he became a member of Ordo Templi Orientis. He was appointed the Master 418 Lodge in Sacramento, California.[6] In 2008 Shoemaker became Sovereign Grand Inspector General[7] of O.T.O and an officer of 418 Lodge, chartered body of Ordo Templi Orientis located in the valley of Sacramento, California,[8] and in this capacity has given many lectures on Thelema, scrying and Enochian magic,[9] as well as appearing at the National O.T.O. Conference (NOTOCON) as a speaker.[10] Since 2010 he served as a Bishop of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica.[11]
Works
Shoemaker's book, Living Thelema: A Practical Guide to Attainment in Aleister Crowley’s System of Magick, was published in late 2013, and his latest book, The Winds of Wisdom, contains a full record of his scrying of the Thirty Enochian Aethyrs, and was released by Nephilim Press in the fall of 2016.
