Dawn Of Tomorrow is a 2015 mini-documentary. The film is directed by Rafsaan Rabb, Mahi Abrar (Amer) and Abid-Al-Labib. The plot of the mini-documentary is about respect towards people's occupations, no matter who they are and what they do. Even if they are one of the best doctors in town, or just a rickshaw puller, we should all respect each other. It also talks about chasing your dream job and not settling for a stereotypical job that doesn't satisfy you.
Plot
The mini-doc begins with a question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". The following is a couple of school kids telling what their goals are. The next scene is another question, "Do you think money and fame is all that matters?". The next part, we see people like rickshaw pullers and vegetable vendors talk about their day-to-day life, how hard it is and how it is to make ends meet.
Like a lot of poor people, they were bound to choose the occupations that they got. It was about the money and making sure that their families had food on their table. But even after all this hardship, they explain how they were able to find a silver lining to their circumstances. It is truly inspiring.
Although these people did not have much of a choice in their desired occupation, a lot of kids today have that opportunity, and it's their parents' responsibility to let them chase their dreams rather than do a boring and stereotypical job.
The final part of the mini-doc talks about the fact that these poor workers seem happier than the people who live in luxury. "It's not what you do, how you do it, where you do it, it's about the difference you make".
The movie ends with the same question asked at the very beginning, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". As a young boy is walking and is asked this question, he turns to the camera and replies, "Something Great!"
Premiere
The film was selected to be shown at Harmony 2015 hosted by tGELF. The film got positive reviews from the judges, but did not manage to win the award.
