Dear Fat People is a viral video by Canadian actress and comedian Nicole Arbour. The video was first published on September 3, 2015. The video features Arbour discussing her frustration at obesity while making negative remarks at overweight people's abilities along with fat shaming. The video received over 27,000,000 views on Facebook and 5,000,000 views on YouTube after being online for only ten days. The video along with Arbour's channel were temporarily removed from YouTube, but were later reinstated with all her subscribers and views. The video received mass amounts of media attention and discussion, with celebrities including Wendy Williams,[2] Gabourey Sidibe,[3] and Chrissy Teigen,[4] among others, talking about it to the media.

Arbour's video was featured and discussed on many news outlets including TIME,[5] People,[6] Entertainment Tonight,[7] US,[8] The Guardian,[9] Daily Mail,[10] and Fox News,[11] among others. Television shows including Access Hollywood,[12] The View,[13] and The Wendy Williams Show, among others. The video received an overwhelming amount of criticism for how Arbour approached the topic, although some people and outlets did take her side, with comedian Wendy Williams agreeing with what Arbour was saying by stating "a lot of what the fat-shamer is saying is absolutely correct", according to People.
Appearance on The View[edit]
During an appearance on American television show The View, Arbour was criticized by the shows hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné, Michele Collins, and Paula Faris. They stated that she was bullying and how the video was not satire. Arbour defended the video throughout the entire interview and did not apologize, claiming it was satire.[14][15]
