Debajyoti Mukhopadhyay is an Indian Academician and Researcher in Computer Science and Engineering field. Currently he is the Dean of School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Bennett University in Greater Noida, India.

Career[edit]

Mukhopadhyay received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur in 1977. He was awarded G.P. Ghosh Scholarship by University of Calcutta to attend Queen's University Belfast from where he obtained D.C.S. in 1979. He was awarded full financial assistance to earn Master of Science in Computer Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey in the United States in 1984. Mukhopadhyay carried out his research in the field of Distributed Computing and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Jadavpur University, India in 1994.

Prior to joining Bennett University, Mukhopadhyay was a Dean (R&D) at MIT Group of Institutions during 2011-2017. He was a scientist and a member of the Distributed Computing and Architecture Laboratories at Bell Communications Research in New Jersey during 1987-1994

Research[edit]

Mukhopadhyay carried out his research in the area of middleware functions of distributed computing while at Bell Communications Research, where was a scientist and a member of the OSCA Architecture Group, He contributed to the middleware architecture design and data engineering initiatives for the Regional Bell Telephone Companies of the United States. During 2002, Mukhopadhyay set up the Web Intelligence and Distributed Computing Research Lab,[1] WIDiCoReL in India, where several researchers carried out their work to earn PhD in Computer Science and Engineering degree.[2]

In India, he has primarily focused his research on search engine, development of page ranking algorithms, ontology based domain specific searching, development of Multi-party Multi-issue Negotiation Protocols over the Internet.[3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] He has authored / co-authored about forty Book Chapters and edited and authored a Book titled Web Searching and Mininig for the researchers in Web Mining field.[10]
