Decimal (the legal name is DECIMAL PTE. LTD.) — a cryptocurrency company that has launched its own open DecimalChain blockchain.[1] The base cryptocurrency is DEL.[2] The platform allows users to create their own tokens, NFT and SFT for the development of their projects based on the blockchain[3] and move them between the Decimal/Ethereum/Binance Smart Chain.[4]
History
The blockchain was launched on August 1, 2020.[5] The company described the history of creation, concept and project goals in its White Paper and Yellow Paper. Blockchain network data, as well as functional and market data with statistics are displayed in the browser, "statistics" section.
In November 2021, Decimal received the ComNews Awards[3] in the nomination "The best Solution for the Digital Economy using Distributed Ledger technology".[6]
The company received the state registration of the Decimal trademark[7] on May 5, 2022 on Rospatent list.[8]
In 2022, Decimal was placed on the CoinMarketCap[9] platform, where you can track the market capitalization and markets where the DEL cryptocurrency is represented.
Blockchain
The Decimal blockchain is developed on the basis of the Cosmos[10] framework and the Tendermint[11] core. Special validator nodes are engaged in generating blocks on the network. Each validator consists of a masternode and a guard[12] (an automated system for monitoring operability of masternode). Network interaction between nodes ensures consensus when forming blocks. The Decimal blockchain is compatible with all blockchains on the Cosmos Network, as well as with Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BSC),[4] due to IBC (Inter Blockchain Communication[13]).
When working with the Cosmos SDK framework, it is necessary to use the Tendermint Core[14] library. Tendermint solves the issue of consensus based on BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) and allows the network to operate smoothly as long as at least ⅔ blockchain nodes participate in the formation of blocks. The pBFT (practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance[15]) consensus mechanism is a key link of the Decimal blockchain.
For correct compatibility with the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint, Golang is used as a programming language for validator software.
For backend modules, TypeScript is used, since workers and indexers are written on it. This language is compiled in JavaScript and is compatible with NodeJS.
The Desktop wallet App[16] was designed in ElectronJS, which allows you to create cross-platform desktop applications based on JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Decimal Ecosystem
Over the time of its existence, Decimal has already deployed its own ecosystem of products and is now focused on developing it, according to the roadmap.[17]
The ecosystem consists of:
- Browser,[18] in which information is placed regarding the blockchain (transactions, statistics, network data, etc.), network tokens, validators;
- Console[19] allows creating a cryptocurrency wallet and managing network tokens;
- Calculator[20] for testing various token data before creating it;
- Centralized Exchange (CEX) — BIT.TEAM[21] allows you to buy, sell and exchange cryptocurrency;
- NFT marketplace[22] for promoting the sale of the created NFT, or for purchasing NFT from other participants of the site.
