Deep Goel
Deep Goel is an Indian surgical gastroenterologist and bariatric surgeon based in New Delhi.[1][2][3] He is associated with BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, where he serves as Vice-Chairman and Head of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. His clinical work includes gastrointestinal cancer surgery, minimally invasive procedures, and bariatric surgery.[4]
Early life and education
Goel studied medicine at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. He later completed a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in General Surgery from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.[5][6]
He later obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).[7]
Training
Goel undertook specialised training in minimal access surgery, bariatric surgery, and gastrointestinal oncology at international institutions, including Mount Sinai Medical School in New York, Bagatelle Hospital in Bordeaux, and the Royal London Hospital in the United Kingdom.[8]
Career
Early positions
From 1996 to 2006, Goel worked as a consultant surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He later joined Artemis Health Institute, Gurgaon, where he headed the Department of Minimal Access, Bariatric and Gastro-Onco Surgery between 2006 and 2011.[9]
Since 2011, he has been associated with BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi, where he leads the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery.[10]
Professional activities
Goel is a member of several professional medical organisations, including the Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI)[11], the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES), the Association of Minimal Access Surgery of India (AMASI), and the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO).[12]
