Delia Antal (born January 26, 1981) is a Romanian actress, producer, writer and director and occasional media personality from Zalău, in the Transylvania region.[1][2][3] She is known for the film D’ora, which she directed and produced.[4] The film, which she also wrote, is based on a combination of her own life struggles and the experiences of people she met during her time living in London.[5][6][7][8][9] Antal received several international awards for the film including honors at the Mexico International Film Festival and the Best Actress Award from The Union of Authors and Film Makers in Romania. D’ora was screened in March Du Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011.[10]
Antal holds an economics degree from West University Timisoara and was trained as an actress at the Actors’ Temple in London. She developed and produced We Cannes which was filmed in the Côte d'Azur region of France during the Cannes Film Festival.[11] The investigative documentary explores the subculture of Cannes and provides an intimate ‘beyond the red carpet’ look at how the entertainment industry identifies projects and closes deals.[12] It also explore the process of making an independent film.[13] Antal has been featured in several successful and theatrically released Bollywood films[14] including Abbas Tyrewala’s Jhootha Hi Sahi[15] which reached the number one spot in the Indian box office charts and Veer, the 9th highest grossing film of in India of 2010.
