Demystifying the Devil: An Unauthorized Biography on Marilyn Manson is a Direct-to-video release documentary directed and produced by Chris Nicholas[1] who claims to be an one time friend of Marilyn Manson, The documentary mainly consists of interviews of ex band members, club owners, and associates who knew Marilyn Manson And The Spooky Kids from the time period of 1989 to 1993 before they achieved mainstream success.[2]
Synopsis[edit]
The documentary begins in 1989 when Marilyn Manson was a music writer who interviewed rock bands including shock rock band My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, then progressed into forming Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, touring to crowds of 20 to 30 fans around local small venues in Florida without a drummer and then eventually adding a drummer later on. The biopic interviews with the original ex Marilyn Manson bass guitarist Olivia Newton Bundy and Marilyn Manson keyboardist Zsa Zsa Speck, Missi Romero (ex-girlfriend of Marilyn Manson) provides most of the home videos in the documentary.[3][4]
Release of the film[edit]
Marilyn Manson attorneys blocked a public screening of the unauthorised biography at the New York Independent Film And Video Festival on the 26 of September 2000,[5] however it was still released Direct-to-video in The United States of America by Ventura distribution and abroad in the United Kingdom distributed by Wiener World, and in Australia and New Zealand by Warner Vision.[6]
