Dennis Herrick is an American author.
Background
For most of his career, Herrick worked in the newspaper industry. He has been a reporter, owner, and publisher.[1] He is an emeritus member of the journalism faculty at the University of New Mexico.[citation needed] He is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with the 1st Cavalry Division in 1969.[citation needed] He was editor of the newsletter for the Vietnam Dog Handler Association [2] from 1999 to 2017, and is a member of the Western Writers of America.[citation needed] His historical novel, Winter of the Metal People: The Untold Story of America's First Indian War, gives the Pueblo point of view about the Tiguex War and the Coronado expedition.
