Depotting is the practice of transferring a makeup product, such as eyeshadow, blush or lipstick, from the original container into more practical packaging. Once the original packaging has been removed, the makeup is usually moved to round or square-shaped metal pans.[1][2][3][4] [5] [6]

Tools have been developed specifically to help with depotting, such as a "depotting spatula".[7]
