Dibor_Dighi (Bengali: দ্বিবর দিঘি ) in Patnitala, Naogaon District, Bangladesh is among the best known place in the District ofNaogaon and is one of the most important archeological sites in the country.[1][2]

[3] An archeological pond dug by Kaivarta chief Divya related to Varendra Rebellion. Varendra Rebellion occurred during the reign of Mahipala-II (1075–1080) resulted in the death of Mahipala-II and loss of Varendra (North Bengal) to Divya. Later it was recovered by Rampala, one of the younger brother of Mahipala-II. 'RAMACHARITAM' composed in Sanskrit during mid 12th century by the Varendra poet Shandhyakaranandi of Pundranagara is the only authentic source of information about the incident[4]

Travel[edit]

Sompur Bihar at Paharpur is about 110 kilometres (68 mi) road from Naogaon District. It will take about 2.10 hours to reach Dibor Dighi by bus/taxi/private car if no major stops are made along the way. If one starts from Dhaka, the route shall be Dhaka - Savar - Chandra - Tangail - Jamuna Bridge - Bogura - Naogaon - Nazipur- Patnitala Bazar-Dibor dighi. The best way to tour the site is to first reach Naogaon and stay there. [5]
