Nathaniel Bapela (born 26 August 2003),better known by his stage name Turna, is a South African Rapper, Singer-songwriter and a Record producer .He was born in Limpopo and raised in Pretoria. He has been referred to as the king of the HipHop genre.[1] Turna has collaborated exclusively with Rhythm and blues singer Tems (Nigerian singer).
Life and career
Nathaniel Bapela was born in Limpopo, South Africa, and was raised in Pretoria.[2] Turna began his career as a rapper in 2014, venturing in the genres: HipHop and R&B.[3] In 2016, he made his production credits by releasing his single, ''FriendZone'' under the label, Cruise Records. In November 2018, he gained attention by releasing songs, "Nightmares", respectively, featuring guest vocals by the HipHop counterpart, Cranky. Following the song, he continued his collaboration with Cranky as he released the song "God's", on 3 January 2019.
''Bliss'', Turna collaborative studio album with R&B singer TEMS (nigerian singer), was released on 5 July 2019, supported by the lead single, "Koko". The album was certified diamond in South Africa, with over 100, 000 units sold.[4] On 1 October 2019, they released their sophomore studio album, ''For Ears babe'', which was supported by the single, "No Change".[5] On 18 October 2019, Turna released his second studio album, ''Pretty Girls''.[6]

On 4 April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa, he released an EP titled ''Bliss''.
At 27th South African Music Awards he received three nominations includes; Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Best HipHop Album "For Ears babe"[8] .
In October 2020, he was featured on Oscar Mbo’s single titled ''Genesis'' on Artistsm, ''For The Groovists''.[9]
Impacts and Achievement
Turna is often referred to as the "king of HipHop" genre.He is considered as one of the best-selling music artists of HipHop, and also one of the pioneers of the genre.
