Dinah Ashley-Cooper, Countess of Shaftesbury (née Streifeneder; born on 12 September 1980), is the spouse of Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, 12th Earl of Shaftesbury.
Family[edit]
The Countess of Shaftesbury was born on 12 September 1980 in Munich, spending her early life in Rome, Italy.[1] She is the daughter of Dr Fritz Streifeneder and Argentinian-born Renata Leander-Streifeneder. Her mother is a physiotherapist, while her father is a retired orthopaedic surgeon.[2]
She married the Earl on 11 September 2010 in Dorset, gaining the titles of Countess of Shaftesbury, Baroness Ashley and Baroness Cooper. The couple had a son, Antony Francis Wolfgang Ashley-Cooper, on 24 January 2011. He is the only person in line of succession to the earldom and as his father's heir apparent, he is styled Lord Ashley. Lord Ashley was followed by a daughter, Lady Viva Constance Lillemor Ashley-Cooper, born on 22 April 2012.[3]
Professional background[edit]
The Countess of Shaftesbury is a veterinary surgeon. In 2005, she graduated from the University of Leipzig and completed her Doctorate in orthopaedic surgery/research in 2008 at the Vetsuisse Faculty in Zurich.[4] As of 2010[update], she is working as an equine and small animal veterinarian and running St.Giles Stud.<http://www.greatbritishlife.co.uk/home/exclusive_interview_with_the_earl_and_countess_of_shaftesbury_1_2246469> She has expressed an interest in supporting charitable organizations, primarily those involved in animal welfare. To this end, she is a patron of the Worldwide Veterinary Service, based out of Cranborne, Dorset.[5]
