Pandit Dinkar Panshikar (born 1936) is an Indian Hindustani classical singer from the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. He is recognized for his revival, reinterpretation, and creation of many compositions, and techniques. [2]
Early Learning
He spent over 10 years studying the intricacies of the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana under Pt. Nivruttibua Sarnaik, a disciple of Gharana founder Ustad Alladiya Khan.
Legacy
Known as a musician and a music scholar,[3] Pt. Dinkar Panshikar has created more than 200 compositions, many of which are set to the rarely performed Ada chowtal. He was one of the teachers at the well-known classical music institution ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. He was accompanied by tabla maestro Pt. Samar Saha.
He still performs in various classical music programmes.[3]
Bhupal Panshikar is a young, promising vocalist of his generation. He is the son of Pt. Dinkar Panshikar.[4]
