Media career
Popescu began his television career in 2011 as a reporter and permanent guest on Dan Diaconescu's show on OTV. At 21, he became the youngest television presenter in Romania, creating the format Presa în 60 de minute.[1] Between 2015 and 2019, he presented the show Rezumatul Săptămânii cu Dinu Popescu.[2] Subsequently, he collaborated with major Romanian TV channels and publications such as Antena 1, Antena 3, Aleph News, Evenimentul Zilei, and Realitatea TV, working as editor, correspondent-editor, TV producer, columnist, and talk-show moderator.[3][4][5][6] Since 2023, he has been a permanent guest on the show Culisele Statului Paralel with Anca Alexandrescu and hosts the shows Noapte Bună, România! and ANTI-SISTEM.[7][8] He regularly publishes socio-political analyses on his blog at dinupopescu.substack.com.

In 2020, Popescu launched the YouTube channel ControversTV. He is active on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, covering socio-political and psychological topics. Together with Mădălina Buhat, he co-hosts the podcast Discuții Tabu, addressing issues such as mental health, sexuality, and social dynamics.[9]
Literary work
Popescu debuted with the poetry collection Cugetări din Universul Paralel (2018), a mixed collection of poems and texts. In 2021, he published the novel Playboy: An Incursion into a Forbidden World, which became a bestseller for Stylished Books. He described it as "an intense and vulgar novel of my literary adolescence, written to become the most controversial book ever published in Romania".[10] The book's content and some of his statements triggered criticism online. Later, he published the poetry volume Lost in Poetry, receiving favorable reviews from Romanian literary critics.[11] The launch event took place on November 3 at The Coffee Shop, attended by many artists and media representatives.[12]
Psychology career
He is a practicing psychotherapist in the cognitive-behavioral school, a clinical psychologist, and a specialist in public communication and persuasive techniques. He has provided consulting in communication and electoral strategies for several politicians in Romania.[13][14][15][16] He ran in the 2024 parliamentary elections on the lists of the Patrioții Poporului Român party, for a deputy seat in the Olt constituency, but the party did not enter parliament.[17]
Participation in Love Island
In 2023, he participated in the reality show Love Island (Romanian season 6), stating that his purpose was to explore the psychology of relationships in tense environments and to observe, following his experience in newsrooms, the production process of an entertainment show. His participation attracted public and media attention, highlighting him as an atypical and analytical presence on the show.[18]
