Disco Diffusion is an open-source Google Colab notebook that creates videos and still images from text prompts. The app was developed using Katherine Crowson's 512x512 diffusion model, and can generate artworks and videos in a diverse array of styles.[1][2]

Disco Diffusion can generate novel images, or build on existing images or videos as initial images. Recording artists like Julian Lennon and Starseed have used Disco Diffusion to generate music videos.[3][4][5]

The notebook has attracted some attention in the art world for its ability to generate a wide variety of images. The notebook can generate a wide variety of images by adjusting different parameters to get different results.[6][7] Disco Diffusion has gone through multiple iterations and has inspired multiple forked notebooks, such as generators focused on creating comic book image faces and pulp science fiction covers.[8]
