Dmitry Shkarin (Russian: Дмитрий Шкарин) is a Russian programmer and is the creator of several lossless data compression algorithms, notably using prediction by partial matching.
His PPMd (Partial Matching by Dmitry) algorithms are used in the .ZIP format, and the 7-Zip archivers' PPMd method used in 7z files.
