Development[edit]

Announced under the title of Strangers, Variety first reported the news in October 2020 that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson was reuniting with Netlix following the success of her feature directorial debut Someone Great (film).[2] Robinson wrote the script with Celeste Ballard, who was a writer on Robinson's critical darling and cult hit MTV TV series Sweet/Vicious. Robinson was also announced as a Producer alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story, who also produced Someone Great.

Casting[edit]

On November 10, 2020 it was announced that Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke would star as Drea and Eleanor respectively.[3] In April, 2021 it was reported that Rish Shah was joining the cast of Strangers.[1] On June 24, 2021 it was reported that Austin Abrams, Alisha Boe, Talia Ryder, Paris Berelc, Jonathan Daviss, Maia Reficco, and Ava Capri were rounding out the cast.[4] Eliza Bennett, who starred in Robinson's Sweet/Vicious, joined the ensemble. Sophie Turner was cast in a cameo role in the film.[5]

Production[edit]

Filming began on June 11, 2021 in Atlanta.[6][7]

Release[edit]

In an interview Talia Ryder revealed Do Revenge will be released in September, 2022. Ryder said, "The film pays homage to the ‘90s teen movie’ while being super funny and relevant to today’s culture."[8]
