Dogstar Foundation is a non-profit animal welfare organization based in Sri Lanka that works closely with communities and vets to provide sterilisations, vaccinations, and veterinary treatment to Sri Lankan street animals[1].
History
Dogstar Foundation was established by Samantha and Mark Green in 2006. Originally from the United Kingdom, Samantha and Mark founded Dogstar Foundation after realizing the devastation that many animals in Sri Lanka face. Since its inception, Dogstar Foundation has provided medical attention to over 3500 animals[2].

Dogstar Foundation works with local vets in Kegalle and the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department at the University of Peradeniya to provide access to free veterinary care, sterilisation, and vaccination for dogs and cats from rural communities in Sri Lanka. The charity offers treatment and feeding programmes to ensure animals are healthy, and aims to find new homes for pups that have been abandoned[3].
Street Dogs
Street dog overpopulation is a major issue in Sri Lanka and can cause problems for both the animals and the societies in which they live[4]. Some governments deal with overpopulation through cruel means such as poisoning, electrocution, and shooting[5]. Dogstar Foundation has implemented an effective, ethical spay and neuter campaign[6]. Dogstar Foundation offers volunteer, education, and adoption programmes[7].
Partners
Dogstar Foundation is partnered with wildlife organisation, My Green World, and will be featured in the upcoming launch of their mobile game application[8].
