Donald Scarinci
Donald Scarinci (born 1956) is an American attorney, writer, photographer, and numismatist. He is the founding partner of Scarinci Hollenbeck, a mid-sized commercial law firm with offices in New York City and New Jersey.[1][2] Scarinci is recognized for his expertise in municipal law, education law, business law, and commercial real estate. In addition to his legal career, he is an established author and numismatic authority, and has been a member of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) of the United States Mint since 2005.[3]
Early life and education
Scarinci was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He attended Montclair State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1978. He completed a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from New York University in 1980. In 1983, he received his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law.[3]
Legal career
In 1988, Scarinci formed Scarinci Hollenbeck, now one of the largest law firms in New Jersey.[2] He is known for his work in public sector law, representing municipalities, counties, economic development authorities, schools, colleges, utility authorities, and hospitals.[1] He currently serves as Corporation Counsel to the City of Union City.
He previously served as counsel to the New Jersey General Assembly and to the Democratic members of both the Congressional and Legislative Redistricting Commissions. He has been a Trustee of the Institute of Local Government Attorneys for nearly three decades.[4]

- David Brearley and the Making of the United States Constitution (2005), a biography of a New Jersey delegate to the Constitutional Convention and federal judge.[11]
- Redistricting and the Politics of Reform (2010), which examines redistricting processes and reforms in the United States.[12]
- Coin of the Year: Celebrating Three Decades of the Best in Coin Design and Craftsmanship (2015), a catalog of international numismatic awards.[13]
He is also the founder and editor of the Constitutional Law Reporter, an educational blog focused on U.S. Supreme Court cases.[14]
Numismatics and medallic art
Scarinci is internationally recognized for his contributions to numismatics and medallic art. Since 2005, he has served on the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC), advising the United States Secretary of the Treasury on coin and medal designs.[3] He has provided expert court testimony on numismatic valuation and holdings.
He has lectured at institutions such as the British Museum, Brookgreen Gardens, Forest Lawn Museum, and the United States Mint, as well as organizations like the American Numismatic Association (ANA) and the American Numismatic Society (ANS).[15]

Scarinci developed an interest in photography in high school while working as a multimedia assistant for the City of Union City, New Jersey. In 1978, he worked as a campaign photographer for U.S. Senator Bill Bradley.[3] Today, he focuses on fine art photography, street photography, and urban landscapes, with his work featured in galleries and on his blog.[15]
