LGBTQI and Queer Community Arts[edit]
Doodad and Fandango has become a well known supporter and advocate of LGBTQI rights and queer culture in Australia.[17] Nikita Majajas/Doodad and Fandango is the first artist/designer ever to be invited by the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to design a collaborative community float in 2019. The float was designed alongside LGBTIQ youth organisation Twenty10 under the name 'Generation Fearless' to align with the overall 2019 theme, Fearless.[18] The project was subsequently awarded the City of Sydney Outstanding Partnership of the Year in 2019.[19]
Doodad and Fandango has created bespoke accessories for prominent drag and queer performers and public figures such as Boy George, Ru Paul's Drag Race contestants Violet Chachki, Detox and Miss Fame and Miley Cyrus, amongst many other local Australian acts.
Slow Fashion, Sustainability and Local Production[edit]
Doodad and Fandango has an outspoken stance on the fast fashion industry, advocating for consumers to embrace slow fashion, small scale, local and environmentally conscious businesses.[20] Nikita Majajas is also sought to give advice to emerging designers around issues such as how to harness social media as a small business [21][22][23][24]and how to deal with copyright theft online.[25][26]
