Doug Whiteman

Doug Whiteman is an American journalist and consumer affairs expert. He is the editor-in-chief of the personal finance website MoneyWise.com.[1]

Whiteman was previously the assistant managing editor[2] of the personal finance site Bankrate.com and was widely quoted as an expert on insurance[3] and other consumer topics.[4] Before that, he was an editor and reporter for The Associated Press in Columbus, Ohio, and wrote about a variety of subject matter including crime,[5] entertainment,[6] travel[7] and personal finance.[8] He was named Ohio Associated Press Staffer of the Year for 2007.[9]

Earlier, Whiteman was the consumer news editor and reporter for Associated Press Radio in Washington, D.C., and hosted the network's nationally syndicated daily features ConsumerWatch and BusinessMinute.[10] Previously, at all-news WEBR in Buffalo, New York,[11] he won a first place Associated Press broadcast award for investigative reporting, for a series called "Mentally Ill and On Their Own."[12]
