Natalie Callis
Dr. Natalie Callis (born October 15, 1981) is an American executive coach, healthcare executive, and leadership strategist. She is the founder of Quintessential Consulting LLC and the creator of several leadership development frameworks, including the Maslow-Informed Leadership Model: The Ascent to Unfiltered Leadership and The F.O.R.C.E., which focus on identity, presence, and sustainable performance in executive and athletic contexts.[1][2]
Education
Callis holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership from Rutgers University. She also maintains multiple professional certifications in healthcare leadership, quality, performance improvement, emotional intelligence, and behavioral assessment.[3]
Early career and healthcare leadership
Callis began her career in nursing and healthcare leadership, working in high-stakes clinical environments where she balanced patient care with organizational decision-making. She has stated that early bedside experiences shaped her understanding of how unmet human needs affect judgment, communication, and leadership behavior.[4]
Over more than 25 years, she held leadership roles in healthcare systems while coaching professionals navigating complexity, burnout, and performance pressure.[5]
Quintessential Consulting LLC
Quintessential Consulting LLC is a New York–based leadership development and executive coaching firm founded by Callis. The firm works with healthcare leaders, C-suite executives, and performance-driven professionals, offering evidence-based coaching focused on identity, emotional regulation, and sustainable leadership capacity.[6]
Leadership frameworks
Maslow-Informed Leadership Model
Callis developed the Maslow-Informed Leadership Model: The Ascent to Unfiltered Leadership by integrating Maslow’s hierarchy of needs with executive coaching practices. The framework maps leadership development from foundational stability to purpose-driven impact and is intended to address identity strain and performance-driven leadership cultures.[7]
Unfiltered Leadership
Unfiltered Leadership emphasizes internal coherence and authentic presence over performative leadership behaviors. Callis describes the approach as a method for dismantling habitual personas and improving leadership clarity and integrity.[8]
The F.O.R.C.E.
The F.O.R.C.E. is an identity-driven performance framework developed for athletes and adapted from Callis’ executive leadership work. The model focuses on five internal capacities—focus, ownership, resilience, character, and excellence—to support consistent performance under pressure.[9]
AI governance and human intelligence
In later work, Callis has applied her leadership frameworks to AI governance, arguing that decision quality and bias are primarily human intelligence challenges rather than technical limitations. She has stated that fragmented attention and emotional instability in leaders can be amplified through automated systems.[10]
Personal life
Callis is a mother of twins and has spoken publicly about the intersection of leadership, parenting, and community development in modern performance cultures.[11]
