Dr. Project Point Blank Blues Band

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Dr. Project Point Blank Blues Band is a Belgrade blues band active since the summer of 1983.

Creative background[edit]

The band was founded by guitarist and singer Dragoljub Crncevic Crnke in the early summer of 1983 in Belgrade[1]. Dragoljub brought his friends Timothy Davis (USA), Michael Sals (Australia) and Dragan Markovic. Drummer Sals soon left the band and was replaced by Miroljub Vilotevich. Before recording the second album (1985), Davis also left, and instead Sasha Labudovich joined the group, with whom the group recorded this album[1]. The first album features Vuk Vukcevic and Zora Vitas as guest musicians, while the second one features Stepko Gut.[2]

At the end of the summer of 1986, after a successful tour of Central Europe, Markovic left the band, returning to his native Blues Quintet (later founded)[3], and Alexander Kozakievich joined the project instead. The group broke up in 1991, then Crncevic reassembles it, this time as a trio with Rade Bulatovic and Miroslav Karlovic. In this composition, the group records and releases the third album. Immediately after the release, the group disperses due to the military crisis in Yugoslavia.[3]

New composition[edit]

In 1995, Crncevic assembled a new team, which, in addition to former member Alexander Kozakievich, included Darko Grujic, Darko Petrovic and Goran Hans Lothar Ilic-Bebe (he replaced Branko Balos). This line-up recorded an album in the late summer of 1997 and took part in a tour of Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Italy in 1997-98, but shortly after Christmas 1998, all members except Crncevic and Gruzic left the group.

After that, two young members join the band, Zoran Milenkovic (bass) and Jovan Pejčinović (drums), who have been performing in the same band ever since. In 2000 the album Blue Deal was recorded with British accordionist John O'Leary.

In December 2012, the band releases an album for a record company, and then gives two farewell concerts, which also promote the album.[4]

The band reunites in 2015 and begins recording a double album.
