Dragon War in the Wild is the second book in the "Sheng Tang Trilogy" and the sequel to "The Sun and the Moon in the Sky". It was published by Wong Yee Publishing House in Hong Kong and by Gaia Culture in Taiwan, and Volume 1 was published on May 8, 2014, with one volume published every month until the conclusion of Volume 18 in October 2015. The sequel is "The Ring of Brightness in Heaven and Earth".
The novel is set between the end of the Wu Dynasty and the Divine Dragon Revolution, but it is also related to "Battle of Fei River" in the Jin Dynasty, "Story of the Twin Dragons of Great Tang" in the late Sui and early Tang Dynasties, and "Broken Void" and "Overflowing Clouds" in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. Plot[edit]
As a result of the return of King Zhongzong and Wu Sansi's words, Long Ying's relationship with the court has changed for the worse, and his glamorous days as a "guest of the Great Zhou" are gone. How can Long Ying get his life back?[2]
Differences between the Hong Kong and Taiwan editions[edit]
- The Taiwan edition has a map of the boundaries of the Tang Dynasty printed at the beginning of the volume, while the Hong Kong edition does not.
- The Taiwan edition includes a free ink and wash card at the beginning of each volume, for example, the first brush of volume 6 includes a free ink and wash card. [3]
- The cover of the Hong Kong edition was selected by Huang Yi from the works of Wan Yi-Peng. Like "The Sun and the Moon", the volumes are put together in order to form a picture; however, unlike "The Sun and the Moon", the Hong Kong edition was designed by Ruan Ruiping instead. The cover of the Taiwan edition was also chosen by Huang Yi from the works of Wan Yipeng. [4]
- The Taiwan edition has a preview of the next issue at the end of each volume, while the Hong Kong edition does not.
- Each volume of the Taiwan edition has a table of contents; the Hong Kong edition does not.
