Driver career-ending crashes

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Over the years in auto racing, there has been serious crashes from time to time. While many of these did not result in deaths, some crashes forced drivers, officials, and crew members to retire - in practice, qualifying, testing, and racing. Like with fatal crashes, many of these crashes have gone on to help improve safety.

This list is listed in yearly order.

Lee Petty is in this list, he did have a career ending crash, but he did race 6 more races. Richard Petty and Davey Allison are also in this list as it was their last race regardless of outcome.

To see fatalities, see Driver deaths in motorsport.
