Duarte Carrasco, formerly known as "Beto de Cascais", is a multifaceted digital content creator and social media personality in Portugal. Self-proclaimed "President of Portugal", he gained notoriety with comedy sketches and musical parodies on his YouTube channel, with "Estou Bem Melhor Que Tu", inspired by Taylor Swift's song "Look What You Made Me Do", being one of the most recognized.

Recently, Duarte has explored new facets of his personality and talent through the series "O Diário de um Presidente" (meaning "The Diary of a President") on Instagram. This series reveals a more introspective and reflective side of Duarte, moving away from the humorous figure of "Beto de Cascais", and delving into issues of personal growth, academic experiences at Copenhagen Business School, and future aspirations. Duarte Carrasco, with his unique and genuine approach, has become an influential voice among young Portuguese people, inspiring the pursuit of authenticity and the achievement of big dreams.

Biography[edit]

Duarte Carrasco was born on November 24, 2000, in Cascais, a town in the district of Lisbon, Portugal. From a very young age, Duarte showed a strong interest in the arts, having begun his musical training with lessons in piano, guitar, music theory, and choir singing at the Cascais Music Conservatory.

At the age of 16, on December 23, 2016, Duarte shared on his Instagram account the news that he had been selected to study abroad through the AFS organization, an opportunity that would significantly mark his personal and academic journey. During the 2017/2018 academic year, he lived in New Jersey, United States of America, integrated into an exchange program for high school students. This experience abroad was decisive in the development of his personality and in defining his life goals.

After returning to Portugal in June 2018, Duarte completed his high school education, and in August 2019, he was accepted into the International Business course at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. Since then, he has dedicated himself to his studies with the goal of completing his master's degree in 2025. Alongside his studies, Duarte harbors the dream of one day becoming the President of the Portuguese Republic and working at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

Career[edit]

Duarte Carrasco's career as a social media personality gained momentum in 2020, during the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. With the closure of university campuses in the spring semester, Duarte was forced to return to his parents' house in Portugal, where, like many others, he began studying online. During this period, he took advantage of the extra time resulting from the suspension of extracurricular activities at Copenhagen Business School, such as his participation in the CBS International Choir, to create comedy content at home, along with his cousin, Alice Santos. What started as a simple distraction quickly turned into a viral phenomenon, with Duarte and Alice gaining widespread popularity on TikTok at a national level.

Soon, Duarte began collaborating with influencers and public figures from Portugal, such as Lili Caneças, José Castelo Branco, and the Presidente of the Portuguese Republic himself, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. In June 2020, he joined a TikTokers House in Zambujeira do Mar for the first time, collaborating with Constanza Ariza, the Mcloughlin sisters, Hélder Tavares, Rafael Baselli, among other content creators.

After returning to Denmark, Duarte Carrasco continued to balance content creation with his studies. On January 1, 2022, he released his first musical parody, inspired by Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do". This parody marked a transition in Duarte's career, moving away from the "Beto de Cascais" figure and beginning a process of reinventation. After this release, Duarte expanded his repertoire with other parodies like "22" and "Lista Negra", continuing to show his versatility and artistic creativity.

Recently, Duarte Carrasco began publishing "O Diário de um Presidente" (meaning "The Diary of a President") on Instagram, an innovative series that addresses his personal development, experiences as a student at Copenhagen Business School, and deeper thoughts. This project marks a significant evolution in his professional trajectory, presenting a more reflective and mature Duarte, in contrast to the predominantly humorous persona that marked his early steps in the digital world.
