Dubba Jonny was a dubstep duo that formed in November of 2009, consisting of drummer "Johnny Gash" (Nick Scott) and producer "Dubba the Slut" (Brian Dunn).[2]. In 2014, the duo broke up, with Scott starting his own project (NCK), while Dunn remained under the Dubba Jonny moniker, though Dunn releasing solo music under the name Dubba Jonny happened as early as the beginning of 2013[3].
Dubba Jonny is most famous for his "Dubstep Tutorial" series, where an early text-to-speech voice narrates tips and tricks for dubstep production, with the song following along exactly with what the voice suggests, when it suggests it.
The original UKF dubstep tutorial was one of the earliest songs that popularized dubstep outside of the UK and has over 9 million views on YouTube, with the remixes having over 3 million. At one point, Dubba Jonny was at the top of the Juno Dubstep charts for over a week in a row[4].
Dubba Jonny started when Brian Dunn, friends with Nick Scott as they went to the same high school, began to tinker with the music production software Fruity Loops Studio[5]
