Development[edit]
On 2009, while talking about the Up spin-off short Dug's Special Mission, director Ronnie del Carmen expressed interest on further Up shorts centered on Dug and other characters.[2] On 2020, during Disney Investors Day, Up director and Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter revealed that a new series of shorts centered on Dug and Carl Fredicksen is in development for Disney+, titled Dug Days.[3] Up co-director and writer Bob Peterson serves as writer and director, after previously doing so for Forky Asks a Question (2019), while Kim Collins produces.[4] Peterson was also announced to be reprising his role as Dug from the film.[5] Ed Asner also returns as Carl Fredicksen; the series is Asner's final role, having passed away in August 29, 2021, shortly before the shorts' release.[6]
Music[edit]
Andrea Datzman & Curtis Green composed the score for the series. The score features nods to Michael Giacchino's themes from the film.[7] The soundtrack was released, alongside the series, on September 1, 2021.[8]
Release[edit]
Dug Days was released in its enterity on September 1, 2021, as a Disney+-exclusive short series.[9]
