Dynata (formerly Research Now and Survey Sampling International) is a global online market research firm based in Plano, Texas, and Shelton, Connecticut.

History[edit]

Originally founded in 1999 in Dallas, Texas by Hal Brierley and Mort Meyerson, the company was known as E-Rewards, Inc.[1][2] E-Rewards quickly grew to over 100,000 clients in a few months, and was named one of America's fastest-growing companies by Inc. magazine in 2007.[3]

In December 2009, E-Rewards, Inc. acquired Research Now Plc,[4] which was co-founded by Chris Havemann and Andrew Cooper and headquartered in London, England. The company rebranded globally as Research Now and acquired other smaller businesses, including Peanut Labs, Inc., between 2010 and 2015.[5]

In January 2015, private equity firm Court Square acquired Research Now Group Inc.[6] Around the same time, HGGC acquired a majority stake in Survey Sampling International (SSI).[7] In 2017, the two PE firms merged Research Now and SSI.[8] In January 2019, the combined entity was renamed Dynata.[9]

Service[edit]

Dynata tracks online consumers' website history to collect data about their purchasing behavior.[10] The company composes and proposes surveys to gather more accurate responses from consumers. With the collected data, Dynata conducts market research to determine global trends. The company also focuses on protecting consumers' personal data.[11]

As mobile technology became integral to society, Dynata developed mobile research tools, giving surveys to mobile users to understand their preferences.[12]

According to the Better Business Bureau, Dynata receives 1.35 out of 5 stars, with many complaints about their telemarketing practices.[13]
