E-coin

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

E-coin[1] — UK-based financial technology service, launched in January 2015.[2] It provides its users personal multisignature wallets and debit, which can be used for both crypto and fiat money. "E-Coin" is a trademark of Wirex Limited - a company incorporated in London, UK.[3]

E-card[edit]

E-coin’s hybrid cryptocurrency cards can be used either for online or for offline transactions and allow to convert bitcoins to fiat currencies instantly. Currently the card can be denominated in USD, EUR, and GBP. E-card is shipped to 173 countries, accepted by approximately 30 million merchants,[4] and can be used in all Visa or Mastercard accepting ATMs (which is over 25 million ATMs worldwide). A mobile application for users of E-Card was developed for managing online account linked to wallet. To get an E-Card, clients need to log in with a valid email address and basic personal information and then E-Card will be delivered to the home address of client for free. Funding Bitcoin to debit card can be done through the E-coin website. The company provides 24/7 support for customers all over the world.[5]

Security[edit]

To provide security to its funds the company uses multisignature technology, partnered with BitGo. Therefore, signatures of all parties involved are required to conduct a transaction. Every personal wallet is issued with 3 keys: one kept by BitGo, one by E-coin, and one is used in case of disaster.[6] For additional security all funds are insured by XL Group[7] The platform itself is protected with 256-bit encryption as well.
