eCADSTAR is a Windows-based electronic design automation (EDA) software package for printed circuit board (PCB) design that is developed and maintained by Zuken in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.
History
eCADSTAR is Zuken’s most recently-introduced software package for PCB design. It is developed primarily in Zuken Technology Centre (ZTC) in the UK.
eCADSTAR is a different product from CADSTAR, which has a longer history, but Zuken have leveraged the experience of the CADSTAR team in the development of eCADSTAR. CADSTAR was originally developed by Racal-Redac in the UK, at that time part of the Racal group.[2] CADSTAR was first released in 1987, entering Zuken’s product portfolio in 1994, after Racal-Redac merged with Zuken. eCADSTAR shares some of its underlying technology with higher-end Zuken products, including CR-8000.
Features
eCADSTAR is a software package for designing PCBs that addresses both electronic engineering and printed circuit board layout. Its most basic applications are:
- Library Editor
- Management of parts, PCB technology and design rules
- Integration with online component partners
- Schematic Editor
- Schematic entry and variant management
- PCB Editor
- Printed circuit board layout, including both interactive routing, and automatic routing assisted by artificial intelligence
- 2D, 3D and simultaneous 2D/3D operation
Some license options support high-speed design constraints as well as extensive simulation and analysis, including power integrity, EMI and signal integrity. These are also integral parts of eCADSTAR. eCADSTAR is offered with a choice of perpetual and subscription license options.
