PDFEncrypt is an open source freeware program that encrypts (password-protects) PDF files to prevent unauthorized access. It runs on Microsoft Windows. It does not contain any adware or spyware, and supports automation via command-line arguments.
PDFEncrypt requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1.
PDFEncrypt is recommended by PC Magazine.[1] as a free alternative to non-free products to perform PDF encryption.
PDFEncrypt was created and is maintained by Ryan Griggs, an independent software developer, and the source code is available on GitHub[2]
