"Early Warning" is a song recorded by Australian rapper 360 and Chris Cheney. It featured as the ninth track on 360's 2014 album Utopia.[1]
Content[edit]
Each of the three verses rapped by 360 tells a different story about one of his brother David's darkest experiences.
The first verse tells the story of how his brother became addicted to codeine, which 360 was also addicted to at the time. David's addiction started with his doctor giving him morphine to treat his migraines. 360 stated via The Music that he faked migraines as an excuse to use codeine.[2]
The second verse, like the first, talks to him in second person and details his high school problems with bullies and fake friends, linking back to his codeine intake as a way to escape.
The third verse is told as a third person narrative about his struggles to get clean on his own and near suicide attempt and how his parents instinctively came to his aid.[3]
The hook, sung by Chris Cheney, is a message of hope, saying that we all will eventually rise up from our problems if we face up to them. 360 has stated that Cheney is one of his brother's favourite musicians.[4]
Composition[edit]
"Early Warning" is a boom bap infused hip hop song which is written in the key D-flat major and has a tempo of 160 beats per minute. The track goes for 4 minutes and 31 seconds.[5]

In March 2015, 360 released a live acoustic version of the track with Cheney himself in anticipation for his 2015 ReTopia Tour.[6]
